A large global financial institution operating across multiple business units and regions.
Problem
The institution operates under strict regulations, such as FRTB and SEC17a-4(f), which require storage and management of significant amounts of data securely for up to six years. These rules were put in place after the global financial crisis and called for WORM (Write Once, Read Many) storage, full traceability, and the ability to quickly retrieve records for audits and legal checks.
Due to these requirements, the various business units within the institution produced about three million rows of data every day resulting in a minimum of 180 million data each week that need to be managed as records. Handling this amount of information was challenging. The manual process involved copying files from SharePoint and other data source systems to physical disks each month, which was time-consuming, resource-intensive, and prone to errors, including duplicate records and compliance risks.
Solution
To address complex data governance challenges, Infotechtion implemented its automated data governance solution in tandem with Microsoft Purview. While Purview provided a strong foundation for compliance and governance across Microsoft 365, the Infotechtion solution embraced and extended its native capabilities — transforming how operational data are managed, retained, and retrieved.
